Greg Chesters, is our wonderful Venue Manager at Sant Ffraed House. In his own words his role is to make sure that every couples experience is nothing short of perfection – from the first hello, to the final farewell. Working closely with newly engaged couples to bring their vision to life, ensuring their dream day is seamless. Naturally, we wanted to find out more about the behind-the-scenes of the venue, his top wedding day tips and even what his own dream wedding would look like.
So Greg, let’s start with what is the best bit about your job?
What’s not to love! But if I had to choose, it would either be the final pep talk I have with each half of the couple just before they walk into the ceremony, or that overwhelming sense of pride when the couple and their family tell you it was everything they imagined, and more!
Such a dream job. What’s the most magical moment you’ve witnessed at a Sant Ffraed House wedding?
Genuinely, every wedding has a magical moment – that one thing that takes your breath away and reminds you why we do what we do. One that does stand out was an impromptu outdoor first dance. It was a late summer wedding, glorious weather, and that morning the bride said to me, “Make this wedding extra” – as if we needed any encouragement!
Throughout the day we added our signature touches, a cheeky shot to calm the nerves, hyping up the atmosphere, and ensuring every moment sparkled. After the speeches, the band set up on the terrace, the sun was beginning to set and the energy was electric. I had a flash of inspiration. Within 20 minutes, we had cleared the terrace, repositioned the band, briefed the photographer and gathered the guests. The first dance with a sunset backdrop was incredible. I’m not ashamed to say it hit me right in the feels.

Wow that sounds amazing! So, if Sant Ffraed House were a bride, how would you describe her style?
I’d have to say, timeless with undeniable class – and just a touch of sass!
What’s one unexpected detail couples fall in love with when they visit?
The Reflection Lounge, it’s a private space for just the two of them. A moment of calm to reflect on the day and begin sharing the memories they’ve just made.
Can you describe a perfect wedding day at Sant Ffraed House, from sunrise to starlight?
It begins with a buzz of excitement at on-site accommodation – Jenny’s. Music playing, fizz flowing, and loved ones getting ready together. Meanwhile, the Main House is coming to life as final touches are made and everything quietly clicks into place.
Then, that hush of anticipation before the ceremony, the doors open and all eyes are on the couple – always a moment to remember. After the vows, guests spill onto the terrace for photos, champagne and killer confetti shots. The rest of the day flows effortlessly, from delicious food, laughter-filled speeches, and that golden-hour glow as the newlyweds slip away for photos. No cake, instead a champagne tower on the terrace, creating an iconic photo opportunity. As the evening sets in, the party kicks off with cocktails in the stylish bar, a saxophonist bringing the energy, and a jam-packed dance floor. Whether it ends with night-caps in The Kitchen, or a private last dance, the perfect wedding day here is unforgettable.

Perfection! Which part of the venue gets the most ‘wow’ reaction on the day?
The bar – every time. It wouldn’t look out of place in the heart of Mayfair. The contrast in aesthetic from the main house catches people by surprise. I never tire of hearing “oh wow” as guests walk in.
Finally, I’m sure brides-to-be will be keen to know, what your top insider tips for making the most of the venue is?
Hire the right photographer for you – you spend more time with them than you think, so it’s important that you click. It’s a bonus if they’ve shot at the venue before, but if not, we always recommend they visit ahead of your big day so we can walk them through the venue and set them up for success. It means less time away from your guests and more moments captured. Also – trust the team. Every member of staff is here because they’re great at what they do. Sometimes we’ll gently steer you away from something if we feel it might not work – not to take away your vision, but to protect it. Let us take the reins so you can relax and truly enjoy your day.
